The company was founded in 2016 by Walter Anderson.
The initial goal of the company was to provide junior anthracite mines in South Africa a strategic marketing and sales partner that can realise value for the producer by placing their material in the best possible markets.
The company achieved success by realising financial benefit for the anthracite mines by placing their products into strategic markets and providing savings for end users by supplementing other higher cost raw material with lower cost anthracite.
Hislop was responsible for many firsts in the industry, first to import anthracite in bulk in containers, first to export south African anthracite in bulk in containers, first to supply many different south African brands with their first exports from south Africa. First to import Peruvian anthracite in bulk in containers, first to export anthracite from Saudi Arabia to Europe.

Chief Executive Officer
Walter is a Director at Hislop Anderson commodities. He is experienced in supply chain management and physical commodities trading. Walter used to be the head of anthracite and met coke at a trading company and is now the founder and CEO of Hislop Anderson Commodities. In his free time he is a professional barista and an amateur DJ.
